I wanted to let you all know that the decision has been made to not persue Iditarod again this year. I have been plagued with complications the latest of which is I need to have another eye surgery to correct two failed cataract surgeries, so it looks like I will have to try at another time.
I thank all of you who have been faithful supporters and hope you will still continue to follow Sled Dog Racing, as it is an amazing sport.

Hello Nancy,
Read your blog and info on QRZ.COM with interest. Have heard you on 20M a few times, latest just a few mins ago attempting to reach KS0X in IA. I could hear you both but did not break in to ask if you needed a relay. BTW, you were 20 over S9, the latter being noise here on the east coast.
I hope your vision has been corrected by now and that you’ve found a handler. I can certainly empathsize with you re the constant care of a muttley crew. If I didn’t live so far away I’d give you a hand.
Know that I too am married to a physician, solo practicing GYN. Her name is Kathleen Fitzgerald. Never cared much for docs growing up on the farm, and what do I end up doing, yup, you guessed it…marry one…Hi, Hi. Like you, her passion is dogs, standard schnauzers, to be exact. Shows, trains, and handles herself, seldom used a pro. I’m just the ‘pickup man’ , chief cook and bottle washer here. When you have a minute drop by our website, ‘vonshaman.com’. At present we have 8 adults with one that is very pregnant, we call her ‘chubby, chubs’.
I’ll say 73 and continue to look for you on the bands. Do take care and all the best to you and family.

Thanks Bill,
I appreciate your comment. I have had a blast with the dogs but have finally decided it is time for it all to come to an end. As you know having dogs is very time intensive. It is so physically demanding that I just can no longer keep it up. I love them and always will but just cant race any more. We did it out of love and really had fun. Hope to meet up with you on the air.
