Today began at 8:30 with feeding and picking.I then got ready for a 40 mile run. This entails fixing a cooler of  kibble, water and beaver which I can feed the dogs as soon as I return. I will carry it with me so I have it at hand and ready when we arrived back at the kennel. I also packed water and snacks for me . The run will take somewhere around fout + hours so I need to make sure I drink. I also had extra gloves and an emergency kit in my sled bag.

I changed my colthes and boots so I was ready. Then Misha, Dee Dee and I got the dogs ready to go. We booted and harnessed all the dogs. We did not blanket today as it was near 0 when I left. A real heat wave. I took an 11 dog team. We now have two eleven dog teams on the A list. That means I can work one each day and they will get all the work they need.

It was a beautiful morning to go for a run. The sunrises are so beautiful here. Ther was a sundog with the sunrise. I wished for a camera but to stop is not what I need to be doing. I just captured it with my own eyes. We ran down the Lilly Creek trail and then up to the Herning. We went to the turnaround that would give us a fourty mile run. The dogs were great. I started withCoyote and Oslo in lead but changed once we were off the Lilly Creek trail and put Prairie in front with Oslo. They were great until about 20 min from the turnaround and then Prairie decided she wanted to change from our nicely packed trail to a snowmachone trail. I hooked down and told them where to go and they got back on the correct trail. Prairie is so much larger than Olso that when  she made her own decision on where we should be Oslo could not pull her over. I let her go just a litle further and then changed her with Mistique. That turned out to be a great combination.  They remained in lead for the rest of the run.

When we arrived back at the kennel the dogs ate there kibble and beaver and then had three other snack treats. There was a semi delivering 4 tons of meat for the dogs. It had just arrived so Dee Dee brought me the other treats and I unbooted and unharnessed the dogs and then put them on their chains.

The semi driver was not that great and got the semi stuck trying to leave. Vern’s neighbor came over with an excivator and was able to slide the back end of the trailer so the driver could make the turn. Good thing he was able to do that or the driver would have had a large bill getting someone else to get him unstuck.

After all the excitement I left to go to Wasilla to see the chiropractor. I then went to dinned at the Chinese restaurant. I had a great meal and drove back to the kennel.Vern said we will take two teams out tomorrow so I guess I will wait and see.

I hope you have  a wonderful evening and I will see you tomorrow.
